This website was created in response to a personal challenge - to offer a resource where the non-specialist can go for guidance on linking the computer to the television set. The site is intended as a learning experience, which should grow as the possibilities multiply. Many of us have a desktop computer and a laptop. We may have a flat screen television set. And a stereo system and an iPod. They should all be able to communicate with one another. The question is, what's the best way to make these links?

We're often bombarded by jargon and may not be strong on technical knowhow, but we want to find the solution which best suits our needs and our pockets. We may want to display family photos on the television set, use the television set as a computer monitor, download and show videos and films in the living room and use the stereo system to play those favourite tracks. What we can do will depend on the kit we buy, from a simple cable connection, through wireless media adapters, to the latest products from Apple or Microsoft.
